What is brumtone?
Brumtone is a music exploring company run by August Engkilde - Copenhagen, Manuela Krause - Berlin and friends.

As a record label
Brumtone releases productions by August Engkilde, Manuela Krause and friends as well as other productions suitable for brumtone. Priority is given to innovation, curiousity and originality based on acoustic and electronic sound material.
Brumtone will release minimum 3 physical albums a year, CD’s, vinyl's and music for download. Further, it’s planned to make internet exclusive releases of single tracks and samples; “The brumtone track of the month” + the “free brumtone sample of the week”.
The album “Kaotic brain beautiful noise" was the first album released on Brumtone March 7th., followed by "The Surface Constructors" first release May 23rd. After this an album by the new urban chanson project "The Ljiljana Petkovic Orchestra" is planned released beginning of 2009 close followed by new Elektrazz.
As a media shop
From the website brumtone will be selling music from other labels and artists also. As a start, we have begun a collaboration with the Fluxus artist Henning Christiansen about digitizing some of his older tape recordings and make them available from the brumtone download shop. Furthermore, some of the work from the labels Superflex music and Musicsystem will be available from the brumtone shop, both CD’s vinyl's and mp3’s with postcards added.
The Music Fair Trade System
When you buy music from the brumtone website you will be able to choose a higher price than suggested minimum price. Please be aware that every single penny you pay more goes directly to the artist!
The postcard concept
When you buy an album as a download from brumtone you don’t just get the files, we send you a beautiful 7”x5” postcard including the cover artwork on the front and the track and recording info on the back. We hope you will like those postcards and start to collect them as a tangible reminder of the music you have purchased from brumtone. We are in the development of a the special handcrafted brumtone box, to store your postcards in if you do not hang them on the wall or on your fridge.
A base for online music studio work and collaborations
As a producer, studio musician and sound engineer August has been involved in many different recording projects worldwide. Lately, most of them has been managed by emailing and uploading files back and forth to the collaborators without physical or on-line contact. We believe there is a need for some kind of system that helps producers and musicians to find each other and to organize the collaborations like this over the internet. Therefore, we work on building such a system.
What is the sound of a brumtone and the random brumtone player?
Brumtone is in the process of developing a random brumtone player that besides a few simple adjustable parameters will be playing random compositions supported by visitors upload of their perceptions of a brumtone.
