The style is ambient layered analogue and electronic trio jazz. Easy listening, easy to like, but still with a complexity of layers that brings out new details every time you listen to it!
Eventhough you hear influences from bands and musicians like The Necks, Ahmad Jamal, Herbie Hancock and Abida Parveen, TSC brings in fresh new inventions and dimensions to the piano trio format on, this, their first release.
Performance setup:
August Engkilde: Bass, electronics & keys, Simon Toldam: Piano, Peter Bruun: Drums.
About the musicians August Engkilde plays the bass, the keyboard and twists the computer knobs on more than 30 jazz, latin, electro, dub, hip hop, break beat, and other electronic/experimental releases. This includes among others “Kaotic Brain | Beautiful Noise” (Brumtone, Denmark), “Band of Inner Urge” (Storyville, Denmark), Police Beat Box (Cheap, Vienna), Mobile (Cheap, Vienna), E.P.O. (~Scape, Berlin), “Warum sollten wir angst vor großen Tieren haben” (Musicsystem, Copenhagen), Elektrazz (Musicsystem, Copenhagen), Pole (Mute, London) and Señor Coconut (Multicolor, Frankfurt a.m.). Further, he delivered tracks for a number of compilations on various labels among others: Kitty Yo (berlin), Cheap (Vienna), Air France (France) and ~Scape (Berlin).
Peter Bruun is a very gifted drummer who earlier has performed with artists like Evan Parker, Chris Speed, Tim Berne, Django Bates, Jesper Zeuthen, Mold, Buffalo Age, Andrea Parkins, as well as his own band WBZ.
Simon Toldam, winner of the Danish Jazz music award 2007, in the Categories, The name of the year. And the best crossover ensemble with his orchestra ”Simon Toldam & Prügelknabe”. He has also performed with artists like, Misja Mengelberg, Peter Brötzmann, Evan Parker and Han Bennink.

Music Fair Trade in the brumtone shop means that all extra money you may choose to add to a product goes directly to the artist. We do this since brumtone artists and related artists in the shop are explorers in music and not compromise in style or quality and therefore rarely sell like pop artists. We appreciate there work a lot and feel they deserve an extra donation to be able to focus on their work in the future as well.
